OCA to Congress: “Fix Multiemployer Pension Crisis!”
Recently, OCA joined with a cross-section of employers, employee organizations, retiree groups and other stakeholders in sending a letter to Congress urging them to enact legislation that will address the looming multiemployer pension crisis. The letter was organized and crafted for the group by Andrew J. Martone, of Hesse Martone, P.C. Andy is one of the most skilled legal practitioners in the areas of ERISA and multiemployer pension law. He has worked extensively on multi-employer pension issues with OCA, our Midwest AGC labor group, and individual OCA members.

We hope further to educate Congress on the factors that have brought our multiemployer pension system to the brink of collapse. We want them to truly understand that the failure of the multiemployer system will not only jeopardize the immediate retirement benefits of hundreds of thousands of retirees, but will also drive many contributing employers out of business. The domino effect of this pension system collapse could easily lead to an economic recession. The multiemployer pension crisis is truly a national economy issue!
