Selection Process Changes – Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program
Workforce development is a high priority item for the construction industry. How will we attract and train the skilled workforce of our companies’ futures? Because of the historically large union market share in Ohio’s highway/heavy construction industry, we have relied heavily on our joint, labor – management Apprenticeship & Training programs to meet the staffing needs of our industry. Labor and Management are currently working together to change and adapt our apprenticeship programs to make them more efficient and modernized, in order to truly address today’s and tomorrow’s personnel requirements.

No matter how efficient, or how good our apprenticeship programs are, they will not have a significant impact on the workforce development needs of our industry if our contractors do not take a proactive approach toward using the programs and hiring and training apprentices! We urge all of our union affiliated members to research the benefits of, and utilize our fine apprenticeship programs. Click
