OCA /OSHA TRENCH SAFETY DAY!
Please join OCA, OSHA and other industry partners for TRENCH SAFETY DAY on June 25, 2019. The event will take place at the George J. Igel & Co. Training Center, 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, Ohio. Registration/Check in will open at 7:30 a.m. followed by programming from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is FREE and includes continental breakfast and boxed lunch.
OCA will be on hand with OSHA Area Directors, and other industry partners to discuss safety regulations, rescue and recovery, and hear from someone who experienced a trench collapse first-hand. Trench cave-in protection systems will be on site for demonstrations.
BWC’s Division of Safety & Hygiene has confirmed that the event will count as an external safety council credit or a group 2-hour safety training credit.

ODOT Sets DBE Goal Setting Public Input Meetings
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is in the process of developing its Federal Fiscal Year 2020 through 2022 Triennial DBE Goals, which are required by the Code of Federal Regulation 49, Part 26. Through this process, ODOT is establishing two separate DBE goal methodologies – one for contracts funded by Federal Highway and one for Federal Transit.

Mechanics Apprenticeship Program
The Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship and Training Fund is expanding to include a Mechanics Apprenticeship Program. This program requires 35 weeks over 4 years of classroom study and hands on repairs. This program is open to all contractors signatory to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18.
