Ohio Laborers’ Union Promotes Workforce Development
Workforce development is a burning topic that always comes up, whenever representatives of the Ohio Laborers’ union speak with signatory contractors. It is something that the Laborers are continuously striving to improve and is at the forefront of their thoughts and efforts. One recent improvement made, is rolling out an online application for entry into the Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program. The application captures the minimum qualifications necessary to become an Ohio Laborer Apprentice. In addition, it also has the ability to capture relevant skills their future apprentices possess and allows them to provide a ready and skilled workforce. The Ohio Laborers Union Locals keep a running list of apprentice applicants and are ready to serve contractors as soon as they receive a call or request for an apprentice. Potential apprentice applicants can access the online application by going to the following link www.oltapp.com and clicking the “apply now” tab.

The Ohio Laborers are also working to drive interest and show the construction sector as a viable career path. Currently, the Laborers are filming members, skills, job sites, and signatory contractors to accurately define our industry. Their message will then be disseminated across a wide variety of platforms in an effort to help solve the labor shortage. In the same vein, the Laborers have updated and revamped their marketing materials to reach the next generation of workers. The new collateral is condensed to reflect the true value of the industry and the opportunity for upward mobility. These materials are kept in-house and are available upon request.

The Laborers encourage employers to use the resources they have available. They are designed to produce positive results for members, the industry, and signatory contracting partners. The Ohio Laborers Union knows that collaboration is essential in moving the industry forward. If you have any questions regarding the online application, filming, or marketing materials please do not hesitate to reach out to them. The Ohio Laborers Union takes pride in becoming the solution for workforce development for their partners in the construction industry. Let’s Build Ohio’s Infrastructure! Please direct any questions to Vince Irvin, Ohio Laborers’ Apprenticeship Coordinator via email at
