DOL
Extends Comment Period on Paid Sick Leave
The Labor Department has
extended through April 12 the public comment period for a proposed rule
requiring federal contractors to provide workers with paid sick leave,
the agency announced March 11.
The comment deadline was originally scheduled for March 28, or 30 days
after the DOL's Wage and Hour Division first published the proposal in
the Federal Register last month (62 CLR 7, 3/3/16). The rule would require government contractors to
provide employees with one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours
worked, or about seven days per year.
The regulation is implementing President Barack Obama's 2015 executive
order, which gives the WHD until Sept. 30 to issue a final rule.

The Highway Trust Fund-
Still Under Construction - Deliver the Message at the TCC Fly-In
May 10-11, 2016- Register Today
The Transportation
Construction Coalition's (TCC) 2016 Legislative Fly-In is scheduled for
May 10-11, 2016. While the FAST provides a steady source of funding
over the next five years for the highway and transit programs, the
legislation did not solve the long term Highway Trust Fund revenue
problem. At the expiration of the FAST Act significant new revenue will
be needed just to maintain the funding levels beyond FY 2020. Your
Senators and Representatives need to understand that the industry
appreciates what was accomplished in the FAST Act, but now is the time
to get started on fixing the transportation infrastructure investment
shortfall we are facing now and into the future. Click here to read more.
