DOL Issues New Regulations for FFCRA Compliance – April 1, 2020

OCA Offers Taft Law Webinar on Friday April 3rd to Cover New Regs

The U.S. Department of Labor today (April 1, 2020) announced new action regarding how American workers and employers will benefit from the protections and relief offered by the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act, both part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

No simple task to interpret, the regulations comprise 124 pages! Especially interesting are the provisions dealing with the small business exemption granting to employers with less than 50 employees the right to deny paid sick leave and expanded family leave under certain circumstances. Also addressed are state-based stay at home orders now being considered to be government mandated isolation orders triggering sick leave entitlement.

In order to assist our members with interpretation and compliance of the new provisions, OCA and the Law Firm of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister, LLP will be offering a Webinar on Friday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. You won’t want to miss this informative update being presented by experienced labor and employment law attorneys Bob Dunlevey and Nadia Lampton. No registration is required for this complimentary presentation.
