 Special OCA Bulletin (3/18/2020)
Letter from OCA President, Chris Runyan & COVID-19 Updates

Dear OCA Member,

We continue to monitor the rapidly developing situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As you have observed from our occasional messages over the past several days, our office remains functional. We are working under an encouraged, voluntary work-from-home status. Several are now working from home. Should additional, or all, staff members begin to work from home, we have the technology in place to provide seamless services to you.

You will continue to receive COVID-19 related information from us, along with our regular communications, to help keep your business up-to-date in this rapidly changing environment. It is not our intent to retransmit the entirety of information you may receive from our national affiliates (American Road and Transportation Builders Association and Associated General Contractors of America) or common state or private sector resources. We want to emphasize that those notifications that deal directly with our industry, especially those that are time sensitive in nature, will be forwarded to you upon our receipt. All of us are experiencing a large volume of email traffic related to COVID-19. When you hear from us, it will be with value-added information.

For addition information, we have added a page to our website (www.ohiocontractors.org) which provides COVID-19 reference resources.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions related to the heavy/highway construction industry in Ohio during these challenging times. We will be here and continue to provide you with timely information and assistance while your crews work. We know you remain hard at it. In the conversations we have had, most notably with ODOT, their current intention is to keep jobs active and, possibly, become more aggressive in advancing projects as traffic volumes are generally down across the state.

Please be safe. Follow suggested practices that help slow the spread of this dangerous virus. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your company.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Runyan, P.E.
President

Ohio Department of Health Calls for PPE Donations

The Ohio Department of Health is calling on all professionals to donate any masks and gloves that they can spare to their Local Emergency Management Agency. There may be some contractors with N-95 respirators and gloves sitting on shelves, and it might be one small way we can help do our part for the medical community.
