OCA Safety Training For Contractors Utility Damage Claims Prevention Field Employee Training
TOPIC: OCA has a strong presence on Ohio’s Underground Technical Committee (UTC) who works with the Public Utilities Commission (PUCO) to enforce Ohio’s underground damage prevention laws. The UTC and PUCO are experiencing more and more violations by both excavators and utility owners for not following the law. Fines and/or corrective action plans are being ordered as a result. At the same time, contractors must continue to work in underground atmospheres becoming increasingly congested with facilities and structures. You can avoid problems and violations by training your field employees to understand Ohio’s “dig laws” and properly comply with them before a shovel even hits the ground. There are two parts to this course. First, we provide you with tools to understand current “dig laws” and minimize misconceptions happening in the field during excavation. Second, you will learn how to properly document your site; even utilizing bid items for proactive documentation. This not only saves your company downtime and unnecessary costs, but most importantly, keeps your worksites safe. We deliver this material in a half day course with real-life situational examples you can relate to. You WILL leave this course armed with valuable information to help your company avoid damage to underground utilities during construction operations!
